Moaning about counters
There is no point yet in saying the new classes skills can’t be countered efficiently for three reasons.
1. The classes are new, you cant just expect to find builds to counter them off the mark this is also the reason the classes may seem worse then they actually are people don’t know how to use them.
2. I'm sure lots of balance changes will be made in light of this event what has worked can stay and what was a little flawed can have changes made to it.
3. The other classes are going to be getting a whole bunch of new skills with the release of chapter 2, so these skills may be helpful in combating the new classes.
Though if number three is the case the presents a problem for people that don’t buy chapter 2, that is if battle arena is still the main PVP area.
But know one knows for sure what’s going to happen so it’s best to wait for chapter 2 instead of solely basing you opinions on this event.

Who's complaining about no counters? LOL
I made a pvp necro/mes for the sole purpose of farming faction this weekend, and it worked VERY well (one random group I ended up in managed 26 wins before we were finally killed in TA by a good team).
Spiteful + Empathy + Enfeeble + Wastrel + Diversion + Leech sig for troll or healing sig. That pretty much shut down any warrior, ranger, and assassin.

Well think of it this way... The prebuild characters are just a taste of what they can do. think of it. how many of you use the prebuild configurations for your other classes in PvP. not many... so ince you unlock many skills thorugh quests or typical faction unlocks, you will have many more options...
and of course the normal characters have limited counters currently as they have not made the extra skills for thos professions available yet...
being that elites are normally boss captures I hope most of you spent your faction points on as many elites you could get ... as many of the rest will be available via quests as most of the rest of the skills are... mostly this was about getting a taste of the new professions.. and to see how they fair with existing builds... as for the most part we learned a good bit on each new class... Now its up to us to experiment to see what we can come up with for counters to each... assassins used lots of stance and blocking skills. Ritualist make sure you kill or distract them from making too many spirits... Just like a minion master counter... The main advantage to spirits is that they are stationary, so AoE nerf is not a factor for those. just smite or Spike Firestorm them to death. So see AoE has its place again... in any case you'll figure it out... all it takes is time playing with people and trying new builds..
good luck..

saying new skills are going to counter them are all fine and dandy.
apart from the people who don't buy factions
they shouldn't be forced to buy it to remain competative, it goes against everything that Anet has said factions is about

assain are totattly useless without sup runes in my opion....i mean a normal rambo can take down an assain.. unless that assain was blinding me ill use antidote signet..or mend ailment for the extra heal..
prebuilds did total of 30-40 damage total on me.. and a rambo even without a monk healing him can take down an assain.. heck when it was 2 assain vs my rambo..i took them both.. with the help of IWAY skill..yes IWAY..i not only use it for the health degen but the boast in attack speed.

So far, where have you gotten the idea that Assassin and Rits are uncounterable with current classes and skills?
I countered just fine, not just against prebuilts, but against many A/W, A/R, etc.
I had sins come in and drop 5 conditions on me right away including dazed. Good for them. They still died though. It seems the second someone gets spiteful on them that it's time to frenzy! Works for me, doubles the effectiveness of my spiteful. With enfeeble on them as well, I was taking little damage.
The spirits for Rits aren't that strong. I wanded so many spirits it's not even funny. I would target a spirit, start wanding it, then change targets and cast shit on enemies. Between casts, my necro was still wanding the spirit automatically.
Not to mention an interupt ranger could easily annoy a Rit, as well as energy denial mesmer, etc.
These classes are far from awesome. They are not unstoppable. They are not impossible or even difficult to counter.
We're going to see some new and very imaginitive combos with existing classes, I guarantee that much. But nothing that won't be unstoppable from the current classes and skill sets.
People need to stop freaking out. If you can't figure out a counter, you shouldn't be in pvp.

How uncounterable are they?
The Assassin is just about a class that centers on attacks. Anything that can shutdown a warrior or ranger can basically shut down an assassin, too. PLUS, if you just evade one attack from their attack chain, they're basically useless for those 10-12 seconds.
The Ritualist is just another caster. I remember reading something called "Caster Shutdown".

ritualists arent easy to interrupt due to spell interrupts not working, but a ranger worked nicely.
And I imagine the new skills the core professions get will be based around countering the new ones professions. ( mesmer spirit interrupt please ).

hehe I did pretty much the same thing as toast except I went N/W for Balanced Stance (critical hit that assassins! - was also useful vs that Knockdown spirit) and Bonetti's, along with a heal sig just to fill out the final slot.
Completely agree with the Frenzy-Spiteful thing - So many assassins died to SS while Frenzying it wasn't funny, especially when they call you the noob for spamming SS everywhere
